Do your own fingernail art, learn how to create great fingernail art designs for yourself and friends.

Here I have outlined a few easy tips on how to do fingernail designs your self and save money. Having this type of art work done professionally can be quite expensive.

How to do fingernail designs at home is easy once you have the right tools and a steady hand. And you don't have to be an artist to achieve wonderful looking fingernails to be proud of.

There are quite a few different types of fingernail brushes used, which you can buy in sets. You can also buy nail art paint sets and nail art pens, to easily create great looking nails.

Basic Fingernail Designs

First put on a base coat, this will protect your natural nail from the polish and from staining the nail, then put on your favourite color.

Some people prefer to use nail polish, others prefer to use a nail lacquer, the difference being, lacquer is thicker and tends to last longer.

After you have painted your nails with a couple of coats of nail varnish, try to avoid chemicals in nail polish, and use a natural one.

Get one of your fingernail brushes, one which is not to wide, dip into another color and put a stripe down the middle of your nail. You can put the stripes on any angle you like to get the look you want.

If you want a finer brush and don't have one, just trim some of the bristles off one. You can put any shape stripe on your nails, such as a wavy line or a chequered look.

If you want to do this an easier way, buy yourself some polish which is designed for painting stripes, there is a brand called "Stripe Rite" which is very popular, and really easy to use.

To achieve dots, get a pin, toothpick or paper clip, and dip it into another color nail varnish and then you can put dots onto your nails. Just practice on each nail with different designs until you find one you like.

You can find great acrylic paints at any craft shop/hobby store to use for your fingernail art.

How to do nail art is easy if you start with the basic steps first, and with practice you will be doing much more advanced nail art.

There are many different ways of doing fingernail art, if you feel it is too hard to start, have it done professionally a few times to see what and how they do it, before you attempt your own fingernail designs.

For a really easy way to add lovely fingernail designs onto your nails, you can use nail stencils.

Using nail stencils is a fun and perfect way of giving your fingernails a professional design. Doing your nails this way, you don't have to have an artistic hand, or mess about with brushes and paints.

Nail stencils are really easy to do at home, and great if you don't have a huge interest in learning how to do nail art designs yourself. Great fingernail designs can still be achieved.

All you have to do is stick the stencil onto your fingernail, brush over with nail varnish, peel off and there you have it, beautiful fingernail designs on your nails, in half the time it would take you to do a fingernail art design yourself.
