Fingernail Care

Fingernail Care is all about keeping your nails healthy, so you can grow them stronger and longer.

This involves nails filed to a flattering shape, buffing, moisturizing and caring for cuticles.

When it comes to fingernail care, what you do will make a huge difference to the appearance of your nails.

Nails come in handy, for not only helping to pick up things, or remover some fluff of a jumper, they can look amazing and be a great compliment to your appearance, when they look good.

If you are not careful about what products you are putting onto your fingernails, you can actually make any condition you may be suffering from worse and not better.

Avoid using metal nail files, I leave the metal one for my toenails, and avoid nail clippers too, as these can be damaging. A soft emery board is the best care for fingernails, and then nail buffing to give you lovely shine.

fingernail care When trying to clean dirt from under your nails, use a soft nail brush, and give them a swish around in some warm soapy water. Pat dry and moisturize with a nice thick cream.

Don't try and pick underneath them with nail scissors, as it is very easy to cause damage, and infection.

Always carry a nail file and nail buffer in your bag, for an emergency, and perhaps a band aid just in case.

And something you already know, a healthy diet and plenty of fluid, to help keep them hydrated.

Finger Nail Care

  • Moisturize the cuticle area as this will help prevent peeling and cracking, and give you healthy cuticles.
  • Nail buffing, especially if you are inclined to suffer from ridges.
  • When trimming nails, always be careful you don't cut too much off.
  • Wear gloves when cleaning around the house.
  • Always use a sunscreen on your hands and nails.
  • Guard against infections, always disinfect any implements you intend using.
  • Avoid using them to open anything.

My fingernails certainly do get a beating and it can be frustrating trying to grow my fingernails to a perfect length or prevent broken nails. I always carry a glass nail file and nail buffer in my hand bag, so I can always have good finger nail care.

It's all about having a nail care routine. You only need to set aside a few minutes once a week, for filing and moisturizing your hands and nails.

Once you get started you will enjoy caring for your nails, especially when you start to feel an improvement in strength.
