Fingernail Color
Find Out About Nail Changes

Your fingernail color can change depending on a number of issues.

Nail changes can happen if you are feeling run down, stressed, aging, suffering from a health problem or taking certain medications. Sometimes taking vitamins for fingernails, can help with many nail problems.

Fingernail symptoms may be the first sign you have, if there is something wrong with your health.

fingernail changes If you have noticed yellow fingernails, this could be related to aging, certain drugs will cause this nail color or it could be fingernail fungus.

Red or blue fingernails may be a sign of lung or heart disease, blue fingernails can also be contributed to poor circulation.

Fingernails darkening to a brown color on the sides of the nail, can be a sign of liver disease.

Nails turning white can also be contributed to fingernail fungus.

Birth control pills can cause dark marks under the nail, and some drugs used in chemotherapy may cause discoloration of the fingernails.

Diabetes, psoriasis, heart and lung diseases will cause fingernail changes.

White spots on fingernails may be caused by a knock to your nail.

Dark fingernails can be attributed to circulatory problems, or high blood pressure.

Black fingernails may be very severe nail fungus, or you have hit your nail very hard.

If you are suffering from a severe health problem, your fingernails will usually be the first physical sign you may notice. This is why it is important, especially as you are getting older to check for any fingernail changes.

If you are feeling unwell, then it would be a good idea to check what fingernail symptoms you have.

Your nail color changes can happen because of superficial reasons. If you enjoy wearing nail polish a lot and don't use a base coat this can cause your nails to turn yellow, especially if you are wearing dark colored nail polish.

If your fingernail color is changing, and you don't think it is contributed to something as simple as aging or nail polish, seek a medical opinion.

In some countries seeking a medical opinion can be quite expensive and it may seem easier to do your own fingernail diagnosis. In some cases for example, if you have white fingernails or toenails it could be more than just a superficial reason, and may be a sign of a serious health problem.

Nail changes can be something quite simple or a warning of something really wrong health wise.

If you have tried several ways to overcome your fingernail changes and are still suffering form a fingernail color problem such as blue fingernails, you are best to see a doctor.
