Trying to cure fingernail fungus can be quite confusing and daunting as to what will work and what wont, it is advised to keep using the same treatment for a few months at least, before you give up and try something else.When you first try to cure fingernail fungus symptoms with these natural remedies, it may take anywhere from a few months to as long as a year; depending on the severity of your fingernail fungus. Within two to three months you will probably see a slight improvement to your finger nails, to know if a particular fingernail fungus remedy is working for you and whether you will need to continue the treatments. Sometimes in very advanced stages of fungus under toenails and fingernails, the best cure is probably laser treatment. Try to keep the infected fingernails cut short. You really do need to cut them so the fungus is easier to treat and you are not providing a breeding ground for the fungus to keep growing. On a sunny day, if nails are cut short you give your infected fingernails a chance to see the sun. This is a great and easy way to kill the infection. During summer, whenever I was in the car or putting out the washing, I would hold my infected fingers up to the sun for a few min. Fingernail Fungus Remedy - White Vinegar - soak infected finger nails for 20 to 30 min daily. You can dilute the vinegar with equal parts water, although I found the best way to treat the fungus is to soak in vinegar only.
You can also use an eyedropper and squirt the vinegar directly onto the affected nails including cuticles.
I found white vinegar to be a great nail fungus cure. - Apple Cider Vinegar - do the same as you would for white vinegar, soak your finger nails in it every day for at least 20 to 30 minutes.
Some people will consume a small amount of apple cider vinegar internally to help kill the fungus. I did try this, but unfortunately I developed a reaction, so I am unable to testify whether this helps or not.
Vinegar is acidic, and fungus cannot survive in this type of environment, which is why soaking in vinegar is a successful nail fungus cure. - White Iodine - applied to the infected area twice a day for the first couple of weeks and then once a day.
- Tea Tree Oil - can help cure fingernail fungus. Scientific research has shown this oil is an effective remedy for fighting fungus. Put 2 to 3 drops of oil on and around your nail and rub in, do a couple of times a day; this is a popular fingernail fungus treatment.
- Tea Tree Oil and Lavender essential oil - mix together and dab on to the nail fungus using a cotton ball. Do this about 3 times a day.
Lavender will help ease skin irritation and help fight the infection. - Vicks Vaporub - Rub the infected area with vicks twice a day, under the nail and around the nail. I would put it on at night before I go to bed as well.
- Olive oil and Lavender oil - combine equal parts together and soak your nails for at least 20 to 30 minutes. Can also use them individually, dab on finger nails throughout the day.
- Garlic - is a very powerful herb and able to help slow the growth of fungus. Chop up or mash a couple of garlic cloves, and rub over your nails. Alternatively you can put the garlic into a small bowl, and cover your infected nails for about 20 min; do this a couple of times a day.
- Olive oil and Oregano essential oil - 1 teaspoon olive oil and 2 drops of oregano oil mixed together. Dab onto your nail fungus a couple of times a day. It is recommended to only do this for about 3 weeks.
Oregano is well known for its anti fungal properties, it also has antibacterial, antiviral and antiseptic properties, and makes a great fingernail fungus remedy.
- Aloe Vera Gel - Rub your nails with aloe vera gel 3 times a day, if you have an aloe vera plant, cut some off and rub it over your nails.
- Bleach - is another good one to use, dip a cotton swab in undiluted bleach and paint over your entire toenail or fingernail, including the cuticle area. Allow to dry.
Using the fingernail fungus cures above I found to be much gentler and safer. Always keep your fingernails clean and dry as fungus thrives in moisture. Dry your nails thoroughly after a shower or bath, you can even dry them with a hair dryer, to get rid of any moisture from under the nail. Using a fingernail fungus remedy mentioned above, you have a very good chance of getting rid of it. There have been many success stories of a particular at home fingernail fungus treatment helping.
