French Pedicure

How To Do A Pedicure

A French pedicure is the same as a French manicure, only it is done on your toenails.

This is also a beautiful way to compliment your summer outfit.

There are many pedicure supplies on the market, you will find them in any nail care section.

How to do a pedicure yourself, is a wonderful relaxing thing to do at home.

The two most popular colors used are sheer pink, and peach, although many will use a nude color.

how to do a pedicure There are French pedicure kits available which come with guides, to help give you an easy application. Unless you have the time, to practice the white line at the tip of the nail.

Pedicure supplies

  • nail file
  • buffer (optional)
  • cuticle stick
  • sponge toe separator
  • base coat and top coat polish
  • white nail polish / manicure pen

It is best to have your toenails with some length.

How To Do A Pedicure (French)

  • It is best to file your toenails first, straight across for a square look, and then soak them for about 5 min to help soften your skin.

  • Remove feet from water, pat dry, and using a lotion massage into your feet.

Wrapping a warm towel around your feet will help the lotion to absorb.

Skip the above if you are pressed for time.

  • Using a cuticle cream, rub into your cuticles and gently push back with a cuticle stick.

  • If you haven't treated your cuticles for a long time, you will probably have a lot of dead skin. Trim this with cuticle trimmers. Be careful if you have damaged cuticles.

  • Paint your toenails with pink, peach or nude base coat, allow to dry. I find it is best to start with the little toe.

  • Using white nail polish or manicure pen, paint a thin line across the top of the nail.

  • If you need to correct any errors, you can do this with a cotton swab and acetone nail polish.

  • When finished, paint toenails with top coat, making sure this is the same color as your base coat.

Painting the white line across the top of your toenails is the tricky part, I did a practice run first.

The key feature of this type of pedicure, is the white nail polish at the tip of your toenails, so getting this right makes all the difference.

Using a toe separator will definitely help.

Some people absolutely love this type of pedicure, and some people absolutely loathe it. Whatever your preference, it is definitely here to stay.

Good luck with your French pedicure.
