A Hot Oil Manicure

Having a hot oil manicure done, is so relaxing.

An oil manicure is great for your hand care, helping overcome dry, damaged cuticles and brittle fingernails.

You can do a self manicure with hot oil, and still get fantastic results. Doing one yourself is just as effective as going to a nail salon.

Oils most commonly used are mineral oil, olive oil, almond oil, sunflower oil and sesame oil. My favorite oils are sweet almond and olive.

  • Start by learning how to do a manicure, when you get to the part of soaking your hands in warm soapy water, soak your hands and fingernails in warm olive oil instead.

Using oil in place of soapy water is actually much better for your fingernails.

Soaking soft, weak fingernails in warm water can actually dry them out and cause more nail problems, such as splitting and nails that tear easily.

  • Heat oil in a small microwave bowl making sure it is not to hot. Once at the desired temperature, place your fingers into the oil and rub all over your hands and wrists.

I usually just warm the oil up in a pot on the stove.

  • Soak your fingernails for at least 5 min or until the oil cools down.
If you like the natural look, all you need to do is give your fingernails a buff afterwards.

If you intend to apply nail polish after your oil manicure, make sure you have removed all traces of oil from your fingernails, as the nail polish will not adhere to the nail properly.

The most effective way is to wipe your nails with finger nail polish remover, preferably one which is acetone free.

Once done, apply your favorite nail polish.

Another wonderful oil to use is lavender oil, place some oil in a bowl and place the bowl over a pot of boiling water or resting in the boiling water and heat the lavender oil.

Put one hand in the oil and cover with a tea towel or towel, when the oil has cooled, heat up again and then place the other hand in, covering with a tea towel or towel. When finished, gently push back the cuticles with an orange stick.

Rubbing warm oil over your hands and fingernails feels absolutely lovely!

An oil manicure is the best way to help damaged cuticles, and is wonderful for your hand care.

A self manicure will save you time and money!

Using a hot oil manicure is a great way to help keep your fingernails hydrated, as being dehydrated is what causes most problems.
