Do Your Own Reverse French Manicure

A reverse French manicure is something a little different.

Unlike the popular French manicure, which is usually a neutral base color with the tip of the nail white, the reverse has the white part at the base of the nail, the half moon part and a color for the rest of the nail.

Usually the rest of the nail is painted in a darker shade, the most popular color is black nail polish.

The reverse manicure first took place on the fashion runways in Europe, and is now something which has taken off with the rest of the population.

This type of manicure is not for everyone, if it does appeal to you, it can be applied to long finger nails, or short nails.

Either length can look good, provided your nails are in good condition.

half moon manicure By following the manicure instructions below, you will soon be doing your own fingernails like a pro.

Compared to the classic French manicure, the reverse is a little more complicated, yet, can be done if you are keen to do your own, and save yourself a trip to the salon.

Some women will have the nail painted a solid dark color, and a white tip at the top and base of the fingernail.

Before you get started grab a packet of paper hole (page) reinforcements, these you will get from any newsagents, online, or office products store.

You will need these to help you do the half moon, at the base of your nail. And they will really help make the job easier for you.

You will also need a base coat; a creamy, rich one will help provide a nice smooth finish.

How to Do A French Manicure (Reverse)

  • Clean cuticles with an orange stick.
  • Apply base coat.
  • Paint your nails the color you intend the half moon to be.
  • When dry, get your page reinforcements, cut them in half and stick the half onto the base of your nails, the half moon.
  • Do this to all your nails.
  • Next, paint your nails the color you want the rest of the nail to be.
  • Do 2 coats.
  • When dry, remove the page reinforcements.

And that is it! You now have a French manicure (reversed).

It is often referred to as the half moon manicure.
