UV Gel Nails

UV gel nails can look very realistic when done by a nail technician, who has experience dealing with a gel nails manicure.

This same person is usually best to help remove gel nails as well, although many will attempt to do this themselves.

Choosing between acrylic or gel nails can seem a little confusing to many, yet the pros of gel nails far outweighs acrylic, making gel the healthier option.

Gel nails are a little more expensive, yet it is worth paying that little bit extra for, when it comes to the health of your nails.

What are Gel Nails?

A gel nails manicure is the same as getting a regular manicure. Your cuticles are treated and gently pushed back, fingernails are filed and buffed.

A coat of gel polish is applied, and dried under a UV light, a second coat of gel polish is then applied and allowed to dry.

The UV light can help prevent the development of a fungus infection.

gel nails manicure Check the salon you go to, is a good one, there have been instances where a salon has used an acrylic, then applied gel as the top coat and charged the price of gel nails.

If the nail technician uses a powder and liquid then you are getting acrylics, so don't be fooled.

There are two types of gel nails available, those which are cured under a UV light and those which are cured with a gel activator, which is sprayed or brushed onto the fingernails. Some gel nails are cured dipped into water.

The UV gel nails are usually the better choice and more common. The advantage to not having the nails cured with the UV light is this procedure is quicker.

Getting UV gel nails are a great way to enhance your natural fingernails. They are very natural looking, are more flexible and bond naturally to your natural fingernails.

Gel nails are also odorless.

You also have an option on whether you want to cover the whole nail plate, or just part of the fingernail.

When having UV gel nails, it is always better to have your natural nails short.

The steps for UV gel nails are quite simple. Basically it is removing the oils from your nail plate, applying gel, going into the UV light and then a light buff.

The benefits of a gel nails manicure is nail polish lasts longer. If you suffer from weakness, your nails will be stronger. You can repair a broken fingernail, for instance, if most of your nails are a nice length and one or two have broken, you can have an extension of gel put on the broken nails, until the natural nail grows out.

gel vs acrylic nails

Often the risks associated with a gel nails manicure is lifting, or you may be allergic to the gel. Once the gel is applied you will know within a few hours if you are allergic or not.

Gel nails need to be filled, and the time between visits usually depends on the individual; this can be once a week or once a fortnight.

If you get cheap UV gel nails, you risk the chance of them yellowing and they look cheap!

You can also have your gel nails done with a gel nail polish, which comes in different colors. The beauty is the amount of time the polish will last, usually two to three weeks.

Gel nails will protect your fingernails from anything that might weaken them. Your natural nails will continue to grow under the gel.

To remove gel nails at home, you can buy a gel removal kit. Many people do have trouble trying to remove them themselves, sometimes it can be worth paying the extra and having them removed professionally.

Many are surprised to find their natural nails, are in rather good condition, once the gel nails are removed.

You can do your own gel nails manicure at home, by purchasing a UV light.

UV gel nails are great for those who want and love the look of clear, natural looking fingernails.
